Klauer will serve as the Senior Advisor for Strategic Partnerships at AMO
AMOpportunities is excited to announce the addition of Kevin Klauer, MD, to the team as Senior Advisor for Strategic Partnerships.
Klauer, the former CEO of the American Osteopathic Association and current CMO at HCA Florida Ocala and West Marion Hospitals, will support AMOpportunities in scaling both university and clinical partnerships to help increase student access to clinical education. Today’s healthcare provider shortage is directly correlated to learners not having access, especially in areas that need workforce the most such as rural care.
“Hospitals and universities lack the resources to host large amounts of medical trainees, meaning finding clinical training to graduate is extremely difficult,” says Klauer. “That becomes a larger issue nationwide when these trainees can't become physicians and the healthcare provider shortage in the U.S. continues to grow. AMOpportunities is the solution.
Dr. Klauer is residency-trained and board certified in emergency medicine. He graduated from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa, and attended LSU Charity Hospital in New Orleans for his emergency medicine residency where he served as Chief Resident.
He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine and the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Klauer has received the American College of Emergency Physicians national teaching faculty award and ACEP's outstanding speaker of the year award. He served as ACEP's Council Speaker and also on ACEP's Board of Directors.
Through his role at the AOA, he has represented more than 168,000 osteopathic physicians and medical students all over the U.S. With his years of experience and success, he is looking forward to helping our teams scale both our school and clinical partnerships in meaningful ways.
Already, Kevin has worked with AMO’s leadership team to further develop its strategy for providing universities with world-class clinical education.
“Dr. Klauer has years of experience and success in medical education,” says Kyle Swinsky, CEO. “He represents the AMO mission of making medical education accessible to trainees worldwide.”
