AMOpportunities has partnered with Guy’s and St Thomas’ to host international medical students and graduates.
Throughout its existence, AMOpportunities, a Chicago-based company that provides international medical students and graduates with clinical training, has offered observerships and rotations in the U.S. This partnership with Guy’s and St Thomas’, a top teaching hospital in London, makes AMOpportunities a global company.
“We’ve always planned to expand our offerings across the world, and I’m so excited that it has come to fruition with Guy’s and St Thomas’,” says Kyle Swinsky, CEO, AMOpportunities. “For some countries, travel to the U.S. can be difficult or even impossible. Offering rotations in other countries means more diverse medical opportunities for foreign medical trainees who may not be able to travel to the U.S.”
The hospital, which is affiliated with King’s College in London, will offer four-week clinical experiences in acute and general medicine, cardiology, critical care, and dental.
The World Health Organization estimates there is a current global shortage of 4.3 million physicians, nurses, and other health professionals. AMOpportunities’ clinical experiences provide foreign medical students and graduates with the training they need to become part of the global healthcare system and help solve the shortage issue while at the same time providing hospitals and institutions with revenue for hosting those trainees.
AMOpportunities also has institutional partnerships with HarvardMedical Faculty Physicians at BIDMC, Inc., University of Illinois Chicago,University of Miami, MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, LarkinCommunity Hospital in Miami, and Saint Anthony Hospital in Chicago.
